The Making of J. Lo’s New Fragrance: DESEO

I’m not a big fan of celebrity perfumes. However, in case anyone is interested, here’s a ‘making of’ video of Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming fragrance, DESEO. The newest issue of Harper’s Bazaar reported that DESEO is J. Lo’s 8th perfume, which is inspired by her garden. This new fragrance will be due in stores February 2008.

Notes included in DESEO are: Bamboo Leaves, Yuzu, Sicilian Bergamot, Freesia, Star Jasmine, Pink Geranium Flower, Orange Blossom, French Mimosawarm Amber, Oak Moss, Sensual Musks, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Patchouli, and Accord.

The following is an excerpt of how Jennifer Lopez came up with the scent:

“The idea for the scent usually comes first. I always call up and say, I love this or I love that — get this candle or this flower that was in my garden. With Deseo, the inspiration came from a combination of smells in my own garden. So, I called up my friends at Coty and asked them to come take a walk through my garden with me so they could experience it. It was late at night so there was kind of a dew in the air and I took them to an area where there are these beautiful geranium flowers, orange trees, lemon trees, and all this stuff mixing together that was making this beautiful smell.”

After reading the description of her garden, and in contradiction to my first statement of the entry, I’m rather interested in this new scent. This is not to say I don’t have any doubts because DESEO is “stuff mixing together”. If Coty doesn’t get it right, DESEO will be just another indistinguishable celebrity perfume.
