First Celebrity Fragrance Re-Launch of 2008: Britney Spears’ Curious Heart

Britney Spears Curious Heart Perfume

Celebrity endorsed perfumes are selling like hotcakes, and Britney Spears sure doesn’t hesitate when it comes to her fragrance. She is re-launching her perfume, Curious. Repackaged and redesigned with a winged-heart, the new but old scented fragrance will now be called Curious Heart. How original. However, I do have to admit she’s got some clever marketing people; especially with using the ‘heart’ theme and labeling it as ‘limited-edition’ right before Valentine’s Day.

Review: My Voyage with Nautica

Nautica My Voyage Perfume Featuring Katherine HeiglKatherine Heigl, known to most as “Izzie” from Grey’s Anatomy or Alison Scott from Knocked Up, is the spokeswoman for Nautica’s newest fragrance, My Voyage. Developed by perfumer Ellen Molner, My Voyage was launched during October of 2007.

“Inspired by the serenity and strength of the ocean, My Voyage For Her exudes confidence, independence and elegance. This aquatic floral fragrance contains notes of bergamot, key lime, dewy peony and golden amber.”

Like the description, the first impression of this fragrance is refreshing. I actually pictured the ocean in my mind when I smelled it. After about 30 seconds, the scent became a bit sweet and I can also detect the citrus notes. The fragrance lingered lightly throughout the day, and I was constantly reminded of the ocean. Although My Voyage isn’t the most exceptional perfume I’ve used, it is undoubtedly one that I would add to my collection.

Notes included are: Grapefruit, Bergamot, Key Lime, Bitter Orange, Aquatic Notes, Peony, Nantucket Lotus, Muguet, Musk, Orris, Golden Amber, and Pink Peppercorn.

You can get a sample of Nautica’s My Voyage here. All you need to do is enter your mailing information and answer three survey questions. (Courtesy of Coty)

My Voyage retails for $47.50 (1.7 oz.) or $59.50 (3.4 oz.). You can click here to purchase it for less from our sponsor,

Perfumes To Improve Your Skin AND Mood?

Skincare products claiming to improve skin health is very popular among women and men (!). The perfume industry doesn’t want to be left in the dust, and is finally catching onto the trend.

According to Cosmetic Design,

“Perfume manufacturers are reaching out to women looking for more than an attractive scent with fragrances that promise to improve skin appearance and even spread happiness.”

Seeing how celebrity perfumes are banking big bucks, though personally not a fan (but that’s beside the point), cosmetic chemist are avidly brewing in their pots to ensure continuing sales growth.

So, what’s cookin’ … read more »

Review: I Wanna Take A Bite of DKNY Be Delicious

DKNY Be DeliciousLaunched in 2004, Donna Karan’s Be Delicious is the first of its ‘Delicious’ series. Inspired by NYC’s nickname, “The Big Apple,” this perfume comes in an apple-shaped glass bottle with a metallic cover.

Be Delicious is a combination of apple scent with an incredible blend of exotic flowers and sensual woods. This succulent fragrance is refreshing, modern, and unique among apple scented products. Although there is a hint of sweetness, it’s not sugary. It reminds me of a lightly sweetened, crispy green apple. It’s so delicious I just wanna take a bite!

Notes included are: American Apple, Cucumber, Grapefruit, Candid Magnolia, Tuberose, White Muguet, Rose, Violet, Sandalwood, Tender Skin Accord, Blonde Woods, and White Amber.

This perfume is great for everyday use because it’s not very strong or over-powering. The scent just lingers gently on the skin, but enough to entice the senses with its yummy fragrance. Many people who’ve used Be Delicious described it as an apple-y version of Liz Claiborne’s Curve.

DKNY Be Delicious Eau de Parfum retails for $52 – $68 USD. You can click on the perfume image to go to our sponsor’s site for a discounted price.

Why Do Women Love Perfumes

Although it’s common knowledge that women love perfumes, there is also a biological factor. According to Jim Jin’s article, “Perfumes and the Women Who Love Them,” researchers found that pheromones are part of the reason why women likes to receive perfume (also when men love to give perfume). “Pheromones are hormones thought to stimulate sexual appetite or interest and they are triggered by scent. (Jin)”

Unfortunately, guys, perfumes do not make women want to have sex. In fact, “the scent has a more dramatic effect upon men.” Even though perfume scents impacts women less than men, specific colognes worn by men have “produced a similar desire in women.” Researchers have established a connection between perfume scent and sexual desire … read more »
