If you are Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers fan, you are in luck! The pop-star will be releasing five new fragrances this September, and the collection is named Harajuku Lovers (of course). These new perfumes are inspired by her four real-life backup singers. In fact, the five fragrance bottles will be modeled after Gwen Stefani and her crew.

The retail price for each perfume ranges from 40 to 60 USD. It will be sold in large department stores such as Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillards, and beauty specialty retailer Sephora as well as in various international locations. The scents varies from fresh to floral to powdery.

Many of Stefani’s inspirations came from the women of the Harajuku area in Tokyo. This is reflected in her music, street wear clothing line, watches and handbag designs.

In an interview, Stefani told Women’s Wear Daily, “I didn’t think this project would actually come to life. The idea that Coty would let me do five different fragrances for Harajuku Lovers was a fantasy. [But] it really had to be five, because that’s what the world is. Each girl has her own personality and sense of style. We’re all saying something different with unique personalities.”

“The rock meets the romantics” is the theme of Romano Ricci’s new perfume. And yes, he is related to Nina Ricci - her grandson, in fact.

Even though Romano Ricci is only 28 years old, he already possesses 10 years of experience in the perfume industry. Back in 2005, he started his own company “Juliette has a gun”. He collaborates with Francis Kurkdjian (creator of the perfumes Dior), Lanvin, Guerlain, and Jean Paul Gaultier.

The young perfumer presented his newest fragrance recently in Italy with Bulgarian rose ‘Juliette has a gun’.

“I tried to unite tenderness with the power of all ingredients, because I think that the woman can be sweet and tender but rock at the same time. I divided the perfume into two sub-perfumes in order to express all the aspects of the woman’s personality,” he said.

The two sub-perfumes are entitled ‘Miss Charming’ and ‘Lady Vengeance’. Miss Charming is fun, light, and refreshing, while Lady Vengeance is sensual, exquisite, and expresses the ‘darker’ side of women. The Bulgarian rose (mixed with vanilla) is the main note in the latter version.

Pierre Balmain will be launching a new perfume called “Ambre Gris” by the end of March of this year. It is comprised of Myrrh, Cinnamon, Pink Pepper, Immortal Flower, Benzoin, a touch of Tuberose for the heart, and of course, Ambergris as its base note.

The new fragrance is described as a “beautiful woody oriental for women”, and will come in a retro style, cube-shaped bottle with a golden topper. Although Ambre Gris is an eau de parfum for women, its floral element is kept at minimal amount. Therefore, it can also be worn by men due to its resemblance to a masculine woody fougère.

Ambre Gris will be available in two sizes: 1.4-oz. and 2.6-oz.

I’ve been a fan of Celine Dion since her song, “Power of Love”. Just last year, I went to her concert at Ceasar’s Palace in Las Vegas. I sat in the center, fourth row - I was so close to her it was incredible. I love her singing because she sings with so much power and passion - unlike many new artists in the music industry today who seems to focus more on their appearances.

Although I love Celine Dion to death, I have yet to become a fan of her fragrances. I’ve tried some of the perfumes she’s launched, but none have been as special as her beautiful voice (at least to me). However, her fragrances have been major successes, which includes: Enchanting, Belong, and Celine Dion Parfums. According to Wikipedia, Celine Dion’s perfumes have accumulated 500 million USD in retail sales.

During April of 2008, she will be releasing her fifth perfume entitled Sensational. The fragrance is created by Symrise’s Maurice Roucel, who said he chose Orris and Mimosa as heart notes to reflect Celine’s “sensual, delicate and vibrant sides.” Sensational also includes tops notes of Icy Pear, Crisp Apple and Plum, heart notes composed of Jasmine and Freesia, as well as base notes that consist of Amber, Musk and Sandalwood.

It seems like every designer, celebrity, and even their mom is launching a new perfume for this Valentine’s Day. In this case, Paris Hilton’s mother, Kathy Hilton, is introducing her own signature fragrance called “My Secret.”

And guess what else, dear reader? My Secret will come in a heart-shaped bottle! I have no clue who the targeted consumers are supposed to be. I doubt anyone Kathy Hilton’s age, like my mom, would use perfumes from a bottle made for little girls. Perhaps young girls would be attracted to the cutesy bottle, but I can’t picture them caring much for the Kathy Hilton brand name.

Notes included in My Secret are: Mandarin, White Freesia, Peony, Rose, Star Jasmine, Apricot Leaf, Sandalwood, Vanilla Musk, and Gilded Amber.
