Tired of smelling like designer perfume? It’s time to give up your DNA and create an unique fragrance that belongs personally to you. Literally.
A company by the name of My DNA Fragrance is offering an one time swab kit (for saliva) and lab fee of 99 USD to produce your scent using your DNA. Along with the initial investment, you will need to pay an additional fee for the actual perfume which comes in a clinically approved, 4-oz. aluminum bottle. Here is a list of sample fees (site fees may be different during promotions):
- A one time swab kit and lab fee: 99 USD
- Your own 4-oz. bottle for women: 89 USD
- Your own 4-oz. bottle for men: 59 USD
As soon as you run out, you can reorder. My DNA Fragrance will produce the perfume again by using the DNA sample you submitted earlier.
This is a very unique idea. In fact, I’m sure the company will do well as long as people are willing to dish out money. My other thoughts are less optimistic - I almost wonder if this is some kind of conspiracy to collect people’s DNA? Not only that, but you have to pay for it! Of course, this is purely a matter of personal perspective. Nonetheless, it is still a rather intriguing service. What do you think?

Japanese cell phones are more advanced than the ones in the U.S. In fact, most Asian countries have more hi-tech cell phones than its western counterpart. Now, it’s going a step further.
NTT Communications Corporation of Japan is starting a trial service that allows mobile phone users to “call up fragrance” to “relax or jump-start the day.” Twenty users are going to participate in the trial (which will occur between April 10th through the 20th). They have been asked to keep aroma pots with infrared sensors that can read mobile signals in their individual rooms.
In each pot, there are 16 different “aromatic essences” such as chamomile and peppermint. Participants will then select music and video clips on their cell phones through the carrier NTT DoCoMo Inc’s i-mode Internet service. The download will trigger a signal from the phone to the aroma pot, “which blends the essences and emits an appropriate scent … read more »

If you are Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers fan, you are in luck! The pop-star will be releasing five new fragrances this September, and the collection is named Harajuku Lovers (of course). These new perfumes are inspired by her four real-life backup singers. In fact, the five fragrance bottles will be modeled after Gwen Stefani and her crew.
The retail price for each perfume ranges from 40 to 60 USD. It will be sold in large department stores such as Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillards, and beauty specialty retailer Sephora as well as in various international locations. The scents varies from fresh to floral to powdery.
Many of Stefani’s inspirations came from the women of the Harajuku area in Tokyo. This is reflected in her music, street wear clothing line, watches and handbag designs.
In an interview, Stefani told Women’s Wear Daily, “I didn’t think this project would actually come to life. The idea that Coty would let me do five different fragrances for Harajuku Lovers was a fantasy. [But] it really had to be five, because that’s what the world is. Each girl has her own personality and sense of style. We’re all saying something different with unique personalities.”

On the afternoon of March 29, 2008, a woman (whose name is being withheld by the police) stopped to check on a man who fell to the ground in front of her car. When she approached him to see if he was okay, “he pulled out a knife, forced her into her car and threatened to kill her.”
They drove around for nearly two hours before the little lady surprised her captor by spraying him with a bottle of Elizabeth Arden Red Door that had been sitting in her car. The spray from the perfume sent him running. Although the woman had minor cuts on her face and arm, at least all she lost was 80 bucks and her cell phone rather than her life.
According to Corpus Christi police Cmdr. David Torres, “It’s not common for someone to lay himself in front of a vehicle. He should be glad the driver was paying attention and stopped.”
Currently, the police are still looking for the suspect.
I bet he’s going to have nightmares about perfumes for days to come.
