If you are a fan of the ‘Lost’ series, or particularly, a fan of Evangeline Lilly - you’ll be happy to know that she’s agreed to become the face of Davidoff’s new Cool Water Woman perfume campaign.
According to Lilly, Cool Water Woman “definitely represents the juxtaposition between purity and sensuality, and there’s that sort of fresh newness. On top of it, there’s strength that’s underneath it all, that is where sensuality comes from - versus just pure sexiness”.
Davidoff’s Cool Water Woman is described as, “The ocean, one of nature’s basic elements, is the origin of a symbolic fragrance that celebrates the natural beauty of women … The legend of Davidoff Cool Water Woman continues with a new eau de parfum, a fragrance that expresses even more femininity and sensuousness. Inspired by Aphrodite, the character and energy of the woman using Cool Water Woman symbolizes the ocean – its depths and mysticism are the origin of her eternal femininity and irresistible allure.”
Now that Lilly has signed with Coty for this campaign, it’s only a matter of time before she decides she’d like to have her own line of fragrance (seeing how all the celebrities are jumping the perfume train).

The four year old battle has finally come to an end between Perfume Bay and Ebay. Perfume Bay has officially become Beauty Encounter after losing an appeal to trademark infringement case against eBay. Instead of continuing the battle, Beauty Encounter has decided to give up both of its registered web addresses: Perfumebay.com and Perfume-bay.com. Beauty Encounter sells perfumes, makeup, as well as bath and body products.
Ebay sued Perfume Bay back in 2004 on the account that Perfume Bay’s domain names were being mistaken as official Ebay sites by consumers. The case went to trial the following year. The courts cleared eight out of the nine counts. The ruling for the ninth count was that Perfume Bay could not use the word “bay” next to “perfume”.
Now Perfume Bay is Beauty Encounter. I think I actually prefer the Beauty Encounter name. I could imagine it was probably not fun being sued by Ebay, and facing the risk of losing a profitable site. According to an earlier interview, Chief Executive Jacquelyn Tran expressed that, “Perfume Bay would have to focus on rebranding itself if it lost the appeal.”
“We’re not going anywhere. I’ve worked too hard to get where I’m at,” said Tran, who started Perfume Bay back in 1999 with the help of her family.

April Cline is the creator of Presidential Perfumes. In case you haven’t heard about them yet, she created a whole line of fragrances inspired by the presidential front runners: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain.
The perfumes were launched locally last Wednesday, and became an instant national and international hit. Cline was immediately contacted by media from across the U.S. as well as from some foreign countries. She was surprised to discover how fast the news of her new perfume traveled. In fact, she has already been contacted by press from countries such as Poland, England, Spain and Australia.
“The No. 1 thing that they all seem to want to know is which perfume is doing the best — which one am I selling the most of,” Cline said. “It’s almost as if the world thinks that my perfume sales will determine who will win the presidential race — like my perfume bottles are some kind of good smelling crystal balls.”
Some people have requested for a Ralph Nader perfume, but Cline declined, indicating that isn’t going to happen. However, she is thinking about mixing some fragrances for the candidates’ spouses: Bill Clinton, Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain.
So far, Cline has sold 150 bottle of her custom blended Presidential Perfume, and she is still busy fulfilling her orders. They are available at www.presidentialperfume.com for $25 USD per bottle.
I’ve been having a lot of trouble accessing her site; I suppose a lot of people are curious about what our presidential candidates smell like!

I’m sure you are thinking, “Again?” I seem to be reporting a lot about celebrities jumping the perfume train lately, but it just so happens I read about a different celebrity who wants to launch their own perfume line almost every single day.
Today, we have the Oscar award winning actress, Halle Berry. According to OK magazine, she has signed up to launch her own fragrance with Coty (who is responsible for most of the celebrity endorsed perfumes). Steve Mormoris, the company’s Senior Vice President, indicated that they are happy to co-operate with Halle because she “is an iconic actress and symbolizes beauty to many generations.”
Since Halle is expecting the birth of her baby this spring, the tentative launch date for her perfume is during the spring of 2009.

So here we go again - another celebrity has decided to launch her own perfume line (in the UK). You can probably guess by the title who the celebrity in question is. Yes, Amy Winehouse. The question is - who wants to smell like her?
Amy’s friend has this to say about her new venture, “Amy’s style has been copied by girls around the country and there’s a lot of money to be made. It’s a very distinctive look. She wants to bring out a range of cosmetics and fashion products. There could be hairspray, head scarves, liquid eyeliner, perfume. All the things that are distinctive of her look.”
“She has become a fashion icon despite not always looking too fresh,” she added.
For those who are not familiar with Amy Winehouse, she is a famous singer with substance abuse and mental health issues. She has admitted to having problems with self-harm, depression and eating disorders. In addition, she has also smoked crack cocaine and taken ecstasy.
The head scarves may be fine to wear and cosmetics…possibly okay to use. Smelling like an alcoholic and smoker? That may be a bit of a problem for some people.
